STAYING AHEAD OF THE TIMES

How many times have you ever wondered — AHA I wish I knew ‘’ a decade ago — I would have been a completely different person. This ‘ this ‘ could be anything from knowledge of different cultures (which define their own norm of what is/isn’t acceptable, good/bad) to just a wonderful article or simply an inspirational quote. And it is this ‘this’ in turn that could have helped shape your life goals and consequently changed your life!

If you ask me personally, I was always more about following the norm — someone you would associate with a ‘herd mentality.’ What is needed here, in my opinion is a certain level of broad-mindedness, good exposure and a willingness to experiment.

Oh hey, all this is fine, makes sense, but what can I do to imbibe these qualities, you might ask. Based on my reflections the solution is to TRANS. And before you go huh, here is what it means, followed by a couple thoughts on how I believe it could help -

T ravel — Builds perspective. Gives exposure to different cultures, calms the mind. Builds in scope to introspect.

Read — Develops insight, makes you opinionated, helps visualize different ideas and like travel, builds perspective. Easiest thing to do if you’re painfully shy like me!

A ccept your chances — Learn from others, build strong bonds, go on that date, have that cocktail, get drunk once on that rare occasion!

N etwork — Gives access to different ideas, generates opportunities aplenty, all that’s required is to make people feel that you care I guess, to build one that is.

S ocialize — Meet new people, get to know their perspectives. Guys spread your hands out and give yourself a chance at that warm tight hug from a cute girl and vice versa. I could never get one yet! Did I mention painfully shy already? Yes, I did. Corona or not, it’s never too late, or so I hope! 😊

If there is one common thread to all of this, then I believe it’s Perception. I believe that we are a result of our perceptions and what we are in our lives is completely of our own doing. And taking input from all the ‘ TRANS ‘ activities we can stay ahead of our times and not get that ‘Oh I wish’ feeling again!

Whoever you are, wherever you’re at, whatever you feel, it’s never too late! We might feel that we let many opportunities go by. But as they say an opportunity is always knocking at the door, in every moment. Most times it’s hidden under an invisibility cloak (guided by our perceptions) and those who see & make use of it, stay ahead of the times.
